The 2017 school rowing program will commence at the start of the 2017 school year
School rowing is available to all students from year 7 to year 12.
Rowing is an Olympic sport which promotes a healthy and disciplined approach to exercise, which can be enjoyed from 13 to 90 years of age.
The Mackay Rowing club is situated on the banks of the Pioneer River Pleystowe (John Cook Bridge) and caters for all levels of rowing from the recreational rower through to state and Australian competition.
Initially all school rowers are entitled to two free rows before becoming a member of Mackay Rowing Club.
Fees are $250 per year, which includes the use of all equipment and Rowing Queensland insurance.
Clothing and competition fees apply depending on individual school requirements and level of competition the rower wishes to attain.
Hat, socks and water bottle.
Clothing should be light (close fitting) and sunscreen is strongly recommended.
You need to be a reasonable swimmer with no medical conditions, which might be affected by moderate physical exercise.
Information nights will be held for parents and interested student in February 2017.
